General:
Bright Forums is happy to have you as a member in our community. We do expect you to excercise common sense rules and follow our guidlines. Please read the full Terms of Service and ask questions if there is any part you need clarification on.
Violations of the TOS will be grounds for immediate removal of a forum! No warnings!
Terms of Service:
We cater to open, English speaking, family-friendly forums.
Forums should not contain any form of spam or excessive profanity and may not focus on any illegal or offensive topics nor violence, hate, hacking, warez, torrents, *filtered*, *filtered*, drugs, gambling, weapons, alcohol or tobacco.
No advertising of any kind (banners, popups, search boxes, etc) may be added to a forum. Also forums may not be used in conjunction with autosurf or traffic packages or incentive based traffic (ie paid posting).
A valid email account must be maintained for your forum at all times. Forums with no recent posts or where the admin has not logged in over the past 30 days will be deleted. All content posted on these forums is the sole property of bright forums and may be used, altered, reposted, backed up, or used at our discretion without consent in any form we wish.
Abandoned or Neglected forums may be kept online without consent. New moderators / Admins may be *filtered*igned at that time.
Terms of Service Details:
All forums should be family-friendly in nature with no illegal, offensive, "adult", *filtered*, hate, racial, or vice-related subject matter.
All public forums should be primarily English.
We require that forums make a majority of their forum posts public as we support open communities. Private forums/categories are allowed, but we want the majority to be open to the public.
We require that forum administrators take steps to prevent their boards from being used to spam or promote any type of spam, as well as forbid use of spam to promote forums. We strongly recommend that forums are configured to require registration for posting, and that account activation utilizes the email activation and security code features that are built into the software. Also note that threads designed to artifically inflate post counts are also forbidden (ie contests for posting, etc).
Administrators are responsible for compliance with the Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act of 2000 (COPPA), which requires individuals under 13 to provide a release form from their parents. (Forum software provides support for COPPA during registration.)
Excessive profanity or swearing is not allowed. Administrators are emailed when any word is flagged as profane.
Boards may not discuss topics promoting violence, hate, intolerance, hacking, cracking, warez, torrents, *filtered*ography, "adult" themes, illegal drugs, legal drugs, gambling, guns, knives or other weapons, alcohol, tobacco or smoking. If you have a question to weather something is permitted then chances are it isn't and you shouldn't post about it.
No external advertising may be added to any forum including PPC or other advertising units or any kind of advertising popup.
Forums must not be used as the target of "traffic blast" packages or in autosurf networks, or with any other system that artificially boosts or creates automatic pageviews. Paid or incentive posting is not allowed.
A valid email account must be maintained for your forum at all times. This is the email set in your forum configuration. We send out emails occasionally with news. Any email that is returned as bad will cause an the forum to be taken offline. Once a valid email is provided we will turn it back on.
Forums must retain a certain level of activity. Forums that have had no new posts or no administrator login in the past 30 days will be considered abandoned and may be removed.
Forums may include advertisements such as Google or banners, although we will never add popups or popunders. In the future we plan to offer premium services to remove them.
Also, administrators must not do anything to impede access to the public areas of their forum by any ad-network or search-engine robots including Googlebot, Mediabot, Slurp and MSNbot. Banning such bots may result in removal of your forum.
Individuals who har*filtered*, deface or damage a BrightForums forum may be banned from the system.
We reserve the right to alter these Terms of Service at any time.
We want our service to be as transparent as possible. If you take care of running your forums, we'll take care of hosting your. |

Javascript Policy: Forums are scanned for Javascript weekly. If you have javascript on your forum it will likely get locked and you will have to remove it or ask support to get it unlocked.
If you would like Javascript on your forum please open a support ticket and let us know you will be adding it and we will flag your forum to not be scanned for JavaScript.
**Note - If you get permission for JavaScript and then abuse it by violating ToS (by placing ads, adware, redirects, etc on your forum) it will be deleted without warning!!! _________________ Please do not PM me. Post all questions in the support forum.
Thanks,
